The Covington Buccaneers continued to roll as they ran away from the Bulldogs from Milton-Union for a 40-13 win.

WEST MILTON – Jim Stickley scored on the ground and Butch Boehringer scored through the air as Covington routed Milton-Union 40-13 Friday night.

Fullback Ty Owens opened the game's coring with a 1-yard run. Bill Besecker added the kick to give the Buccs a 7-0 lead. Boehringer gave the Buccs a 13-0 lead when he picked off a Doug Rammell pass and covered 25 yards for the score. Besecker booted the extra point to give the Buccs a 14-0 lead after one quarter of play.

Milton cut the lead to eight in the second quarter on a 65-yard pass from Rammell to Todd Berner. The run for the two-point conversion failed.

Boehringer added touchdown No. 2 when he was on the receiving end of a 50-yard scoring strike from quarterback Matt Pond. Besecker kicked the extra point to give the Buccs a 21-6 halftime lead.

The Buccs put the game out of reach in the third quarter with a pair of touchdowns. Stickley scored on an 8-yard run, while Pond found the end zone from 12 yards out. Both kicks for extra points failed.

Covington increased its lead to 40-6 on a Stickley 2-yard run and Besecker kick. Chris Geisler scored from 2 yards out for Milton's final score. Shawn Eardley added the kick.

Covington (4-0, 1-0) will host Tipp City Friday.
