After two seasons under Coach Allman, there is a new man in charge at Covington. Coach Tom Steele begins a new era in what was predicted as a rebuilding year.

The 1963 Covington Buccaneers football team finished with a 6-3 record, but could have just as easily accumulated an 8-1 record. Two of Covington's three losses came by a combined 9 points.

The only loss the Buccs suffered in a non-competitive contest was the season opener against a powerful Tipp City team, 26-6.

The Buccs rebounded, however, to shut out Bradford 35-0 and then defeat Germantown, 34-8.

Covington dropped to 2-2 on the season in week four as Jefferson handed them a close 22-17 defeat.

Three straight wins followed as the Buccs defeated Wayne, 22-18; Carlisle, 26-6; and Centerville, 38-8.

The Buccs' final loss came in another close contest and West Alexandria took a 22-18 victory over Covington in the eighth week of the season.

Finally, Covington put it all together in the season finale as they destroyed Dixie 65-6.

With talent returning for next season, the Buccaneers will begin their first season in the Mad River Valley League. Covington will also enjoy expanded seating at home games as the Bucc Boosters organization is installing a new steel structure on the home side of Smith Field.
